Privacy Policy
Clooz is a city-discovery game. We collect as little personal data as possible: what we need to run your account, save your game progress, and work out why something in a story went wrong. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we use no advertising trackers. The gameplay statistics we keep are our own, used to improve the stories, not a third party's ad product.
What we collect
- Account details. When you create an account we store your email address and, if you set one, a display name. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email (or Apple's private relay address) from them.
- How you play. Which stories you open, how far you get, any story ratings you leave, and the details of a play-through: the pages you reach, clue attempts and hints, when audio is played or paused, and how long things take. We use this to see where stories confuse people. We keep the detail for 30 days, then reduce it to anonymous totals.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, we receive a technical report through Sentry, our error-monitoring provider, tagged with your account id so we can tell whether one person hit a problem or everyone did.
- Feedback. If you send us feedback or a bug report, we store your message, any screenshot you choose to attach, and basic device details: your phone model, its operating system version, and which version of Clooz you are running.
Location
Clooz uses your location only while you are using the app, to guide you between landmarks and unlock clues when you arrive. When the app checks whether you have arrived, it records that check: your coordinates at that moment, how far you were from the landmark, and how accurate the reading was. We use this to work out why a clue failed to unlock for someone standing in the right place. These records are deleted after 30 days. We never track your location in the background, and we do not build a picture of where you go outside the app.
Photos
Clooz does not use your camera. We ask for access to your photo library only if you choose to attach a screenshot to feedback, and only at the moment you pick one. We never access your photos in the background.
Where your data lives
Your account and game data are stored with Supabase, our hosting provider, on servers in the European Union. Crash reports go to Sentry, our error-monitoring provider, also on European servers. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, that sign-in happens with them. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. We share your data with no one else, except if required by law.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time from the app's profile screen. This permanently deletes your account and anonymises any remaining game records. If you no longer have the app, see how to delete your account. You can also email us (address below) to request deletion or a copy of your data.
This website
Everything above is about the app. The clooz.app website counts its visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, so we can see whether anybody finds our pages. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and builds no profile of you: it records the page that was opened, roughly which country it was opened from, and nothing that identifies you. That is also why this site shows you no cookie banner.
Children
Anyone can enjoy Clooz, but the app is not designed for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date above.
